Frequently asked questions
What is a good Flesch Reading Ease score?
Higher is easier. 60–70 is plain English (about an 8th–9th-grade level); 30–50 is fairly difficult (college); 90+ is very easy. Aim for 60+ for a general audience.
How is the grade level calculated?
Flesch–Kincaid uses average words per sentence and syllables per word. Syllables are estimated with a standard heuristic, so very unusual words may be off by one.
Is my text uploaded?
