Number to Words

Spell out numbers & money amounts.

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded, logged, or tracked.

Turn any number into its written-out words — useful for cheques, invoices and legal documents — with an optional currency mode that produces phrasing like “one thousand two hundred thirty-four dollars and fifty cents”. Works for very large values, into the trillions.

Frequently asked questions

What is the currency mode for?

It formats an amount as money — for example 1234.50 becomes “one thousand two hundred thirty-four dollars and fifty cents” — handy for writing cheques.

How large a number can it handle?

Into the trillions. In plain mode, decimals are read out after the word “point”; in currency mode the fraction becomes cents.

Can it use the British-style “and”?

Yes — toggle it to get phrasing like “one hundred and one”. Numbers are otherwise written in standard short-scale form.
