AI Background Remover

Cut out any subject with on-device AI — nothing uploaded.

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded, logged, or tracked.

A real AI background remover that runs 100% on your device — drop in any photo and an on-device neural network (no servers, no upload) finds the subject and cuts it out cleanly. Keep it transparent, drop in a solid colour, blur the original background for a portrait look, or replace it with another image — then refine the edges and export a PNG (with real transparency), JPEG or WebP. Do a whole folder at once. The AI model downloads once and then works offline forever; your photos never leave your device, and the export carries no GPS or camera metadata.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The AI model and all processing run inside your browser on your own device — there are no servers, no upload, no analytics. After the one-time model download you can disconnect from the internet and it still works. That privacy is the entire point: every cloud background remover (remove.bg, Canva, Photoshop’s) sends your photo to their servers; this one never does.

How does an AI run in my browser with nothing uploaded?

It uses a compact image-segmentation neural network (a U²-Net-family model) compiled to run on your device via WebAssembly. The first time you use the tool it downloads the model once (tens of MB, shown with a progress bar), caches it, and from then on every cutout happens locally and offline.

Will the cutout have real transparency?

Yes. Export as PNG (or WebP) and the background is genuinely transparent — an alpha channel, not a white box — so you can drop the subject onto anything. You can also export a composited JPEG if you’ve put it on a solid colour or a new background.

Can I replace or blur the background, not just remove it?

Yes. After the cutout you can keep it transparent, fill the background with any solid colour, blur the original background (a clean portrait/headshot look), or replace it with another image you drop in. Edge-refinement controls (feather, smoothing) clean up the cutout.

How good is it, and what works best?

It’s very good on clear subjects — people, products, animals, objects with a defined edge. Fine hair, glass, fences and very low-contrast edges are hard for any automatic remover; the edge-refine controls and a higher-quality model option help. It’s an on-device model, so it trades a little of the absolute peak quality of a giant cloud model for total privacy and offline use.

Does it remove EXIF / GPS metadata?

Always. The export is re-encoded from raw pixels, so the original’s GPS location, camera model and EXIF tags can’t carry over — there’s nothing to toggle.

Can I do a lot of images at once?

Yes — batch mode runs the cutout on every image you drop in and downloads them as a single .zip, all on your device.
